Who We Are & Why We Exist
AREA was established in December 1993 as the continuation of the GTZ DESP project. AREA is a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit developmental organization.
AREA works to empower Afghan communities through sustainable rehabilitation, development and humanitarian interventions. We foster social inclusion, gender equity and grassroots empowerment across the country.
AREA currently works in demining, agriculture, skills and vocational training, environment protection, community development and energy efficiency.
